Preliminary trials suggest that this new anti-convulsant drug could be effective in the treatment of Lennox Gaustaut syndrome. Preliminary trials show a significant improvement in the reduction of seizures. Some reports indicate that this reduction could be as much as 50%.

EPILERT

A watch that can predict epileptic fits.

The watch invented by scientists at the Sourasky Medical Centre in Tel Aviv was one of the winners in the recent UK Medical Futures Innovations Awards 2007.

The watch works by detecting vibrations in the body. It is then able to send a signal to a pocket-sized receiver that can be carried by either a parent or carer.

It is expected to be available within the next nine months.
